The last couple weeks of summer were busy ones up here!
Some pictures at the link below (Some people couldn't view the others the old way, so I'm just going with a link to a shared album here...

There are a few pictures and a video from The Lumineers concert that we took the kids to down at the Burlington waterfront (Tyler's favorite thing of the summer), followed by some random pictures from Lake George. Tyler played summer baseball and got into the pitching rotation which was fun to watch. The Thunderbirds headlined an airshow over Lake Champlain, Anna took a horseback riding lesson which she enjoyed. I don't think that will become a serious hobby, but she wanted to try it. There was the Champlain Valley Fair, where Katie and her mom and sister worked their tails off selling fudge again this year for some friends who have a booth there. And, of course, there was the first day of school, which is going great so far for both kids and Katie.
Also scattered throughout, I shared some pictures of a project that the kids and I worked on while Katie was working at the fair every night. It's an outdoor table and benches to put at the lake. We made them out of new wood, but I wanted it to look a bit more rustic... the first step was to give the kids hammers and screwdrivers, chains, wrenches, and anything they could use to beat up the wood and add 'character'... after that, it was a 5 step process of tea, iron acetate (steel wool + vinegar), sanding, staining and sealing... which at various stages had me seriously feeling like we completely ruined it (though I now know how to make some serious faux barn boards... should the need arise). The end product came out cool, and was worth it I think. It probably won't hold up well outdoors, but we'll see. It was really fun and inexpensive to make.
